What to know about Midwifery Acupuncture

Updated: May 9, 2019

Acupuncture can treat a variety of conditions such as Muscular-skeletal pain, breech and posterior babies, labour preparation, induction of labour, pain relief in labour, anaemia, anxiety, constipation, carpal tunnel syndrome, heartburn, haemorrhoids, oedema, headaches, tiredness and exhaustion. In the postnatal period acupuncture can be used for maternal well-being, insufficient lactation, postnatal depression and anxiety.

Acupuncture is an ideal form of treatment as it offers women a drug-free relief of problems that may arise during pregnancy and childbirth.

Pre-birth acupuncture can enhance the prospects of an efficient labour, and the teaching of acupressure points to partner's can make a big difference to levels of pain experienced during labour.
